Stan & Essie ... just for you -
A range of natural hand made soaps

All of the shampoo bars are made to the same basic recipe of Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Castor Oil. The varieties arise from the infused botanicals. All of the infusions are made here by hand and take between 2 and 5 months to make each one. The therapeutic properties of each of the botanicals we use in the infusions are listed in the Botanicals section. Over half of the shampoo bar varieties we make do not have any added perfumes, the rest contain pure essential oils for those that like a stronger aroma. A pure shampoo without any botanicals can be made if required. Our conditioning bars are made from Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, Mango Butter, Argan Oil, and Avocado Oil with Essential Oils for fragrance. Again, a pure conditioner without any botanicals or fragrance can be made on request.

The wax balms come in three different types. The 'balm' part comes from Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil and Wheatgerm Oil. These are blended with either pure Beeswax, Carnauba Wax or a 50/50 mixture of both. The wax balms are fragranced with pure essential oils but can be made unfragranced if required.

The soaps contain the same quality pure and natural ingredients and come in 3 basic recipes with numerous varients. A natural salt bar that contains a high level of either sea salt or himalayan pink salt with Coconut Oil and Olive Oil. An antimicrobial soap which is primarily Olive Oil based. And a Lard soap for those that like a traditional bar of soap. The soaps contain natural clays for colour and pure essential oils for fragrance.

The Botanicals and their reported therapeutic properties

Seaweed Powder - We only use fucus vesiculosus (Bladderwrack). Bladderwrack is known for it's ability to strengthen hair follicles, promote healthy hair growth and improve overall hair texture and shine.

Rosemary - As well as infusing our own oils we also use Rosemary Essential Oils. Rosemary is known for increasing blood supply to the skin and scalp, stimulating hair growth, and thickening hair. It also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

For dogs, in addition to the benefits or their coat, Rosemary is thought to have a calming effect on those that are nervous or anxious.

Calendula - For both humans and dogs, Calendula has a long list of therapeutic properties reported. These include being antimicrobial, antifungal, promoting healing, reducing scurf and dandruff, it hydrates and moisturises, reduces hair breakage and improves elasticity and many other things

Oregano - In addition to infusing our own oils we also use Oregano Essential Oils. The reported benefits of Oregano are lengthy. Said to be a powerful anti-oxident, anti-inflammatory- anti-fungal, it is claimed Oregano can heal wounds, fight fungal infections, soothe itchy skin and deter pests amongst many other benefits.

Thyme-  This is another herb that is used as an Essential Oil as well as infusing our own. With very similar properties as Oregano and reported to have very similar benefits Thyme is also said to act as a hair growth stimulant and have antiageing properties.

Rosehip - Those of a certain age may remember being given Rosehip Syrup on the NHS because it was believed to be so beneficial. Packed with vitamins and high concentrations of Omegas 3,6,7 and 9 it is used in beauty products for it's moisurising and anti-ageing properties.

Chamomile - Well known for it's reported  calming effect on both humans and dogs

Chamomile is also known for it's benefits for hair and skin. It is said to be high in anti-oxidents and  to promote healthy growth.

Lavender -We both infuse our own oils and use Lavender Essential Oil. Lavender offers several potential benefits for dogs, making it a popular choice. Lavender is well-known for its calming and relaxing properties, which can help reduce anxiety in dogs as well as their owners.

Lavender also has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties, making it effective for soothing skin irritations, such as hot spots, insect bites, and minor wounds. The scent of lavender is said to repel insects, such as fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Lavender is also reported to help with pain relief and insomnia.

Frankincense-This is mostly used in the form of an Essential Oil but we do infuse small amounts. As well as promoting skin health, potentially helping joint mobility, and possibly helping with pain management, Frankincense is said to be an effictive stress and anxiety reducer in dogs and a cognitive health booster in humans.

We also use Orange, Geranium, Cedarwood, Amyris, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, and Patchouli Essential Oils (as well as some other on occasion).

All of our botanicals, whether infused oils or essential oils, are used well within levels that are safe for both dogs and humans when the products are used for their intended purpose. The products should not be used when pregnant or lactating or on the very young without discussing with either a vet or medical doctor as appropriate.

Discontinue use if any irritation occurs.
